The Adventure Project’s campaign to bring clean drinking water to people in need.

  • 4,000 children die every day from lack of clean drinking water.
  • Tragically, 1/3 of all wells drilled in the last 20 years are now broken.
  • Often there’s no tools, spare parts or trained mechanics to fix them.

A Handpump Mechanics Business.

  • Two years ago, WaterAid set up a handpump mechanics business.
  • When a handpump breaks down, villagers call the shop and a mechanic bikes over.
  • While fixing wells, the mechanics also train villagers in hygiene education and well maintenance – to prevent disease and future breakdowns.
  • Water samples are brought to the lab, to ensure every well is safe to drink.

Our goal is to help WaterAid increase well repairs by 50%, bringing clean water to 700 more people every month. We are raising funds to:

  • Hire 25 more mechanics.
  • Invest in the launch of a sanitary pad side-business.
  • Purchase more equipment.
  • Strengthen the program in Mahoba, and help WaterAid expand into the State of Bihar.
